Penola Coonawarra Acoustic Music Gathering

The event is managed by the Penola Coonawarra Music Gathering Association Inc. which was established in March 2020 in response to the closing of the Frances Folk Gathering. A number of towns considered putting on this popular event but supported us due to Penola’s central location, superior park and tourism facilities.

There is no equivalent music festival in the Coonawarra area and this is an exciting initiative to lift the spirits of the local people and attract tourists to the area.

​

The committee of five members have extensive experience at the corporate level in Emergency Services, non-profit organisation conferences, programs, and events. It has forged strong links with the McCorquindale Park Management Committee, the Frances Folk Gathering Management Committee, the Sandford Bush Music Management Committee, and the Fleurieu Folk Festival Management Committee.  All who have history of running successful Music Festival and have given practical advice on staging this musical festival.

The objects of the association are to;

• Provide a venue for acoustic music performers, followers, and the general public.

• Encourage and mentor youth and local musicians by experienced full-time musicians, and to provide a venue for their performances.

• Introduce and mentor school-aged children in performance and the appreciation of acoustic music.

• Increase tourism to the region through the billing of top acoustic music performers.

• Cross pollinate other Penola Coonawarra events by advertising them at our event

• Create an event for service club fund raising, and for local business catering and promotion.
